What to see in Good Shepherd Convent

Good Shepherd is a convent so it adheres to the Christian vows of simplicity and poverty. This is a place where one is invited to carry out religious sacrifices and at the same time help out our needy brothers and sisters. Nuns and volunteers create delicious food here and thru purchasing home made breads, cookies, jams and other sweets, portions of sales are appropriated for service.

Their mini park is beautiful. It’s used as Stations of the Cross. Here you can meditate on your own for it’s peaceful and quiet.

Coming to Good Shepherd, you’ll be able to see their buildings and stores. The stores are very famous in Northern Luzon for the nuns’ baked products are delicious. You have got to try their breads and jams, they are far more tastier that the ones sold in the Baguio public market (You can of course find Good Shepherd products in the Baguio Public Market but seeing the place for yourself is better). The ube jams as well as their strawberry jams are winners. I love combining peanut butter with strawberry jam in my toast, sarrrraaaaaapppppp. Other products sold are: peanut brittle, lengua de gato, strawberry preserves, pan de coco, pandesal (their pandesal are firm, siksik talaga, 1 piece lang busog ka na tapos sarap nito pag may strawberry jam or peanut butter tapos nasa may bintana ka nagkakape hehehe), rolls, muffins, cringles, loaves, oatmeal bars and so much more. If you’re going to buy breads and pastries, why not get them at Good Shepherd, you’ll be helping their service and getting quality products at the same time.

There’s also an organic store here where goods come from all natural sources. You can also buy some rosaries and other things Catholics use.

How to get to Baguio City Good Shepherd Convent

From metro Baguio, you can drive to Leonard Wood Road and reach Pacdal. Upon reaching the Pacdal Cicle, take the middle road that leads to Gibraltar. You’ll be able to pass by Wright Park from here. Just before you reach Mines View Park, you’ll notice an arc to your left that welcomes you to the Good Shepherd Convent.

When commuting, take a Mines View Jeepney. Their stations can be seen at Mabini Street (sa gilid to ng Session Road, tabi ng McDo Session- nagiisa lang namn ang McDo session hehehe and leads to Harrison Road) and General Luna Road (the road that leads to the University of Baguio). The fare is slightly higher that the minimum fare so it would be good if you asked the driver first how much the fare would cost.

Once here and done with shopping, why not go to Mines View Park din? It’s very near actually and you can just walk to get there. The Baguio City Good Shepherd Convent is a great place to buy breads and jams and pasalubong. Kung balak nyo din mag madre or humingi ng pangangalaga sa mga kababaihang naabuso at kailangan ng tulong, magtungo kayo sa Good Shepherd.
