The Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad, Benguet is the biggest strawberry plantation in the whole of Northern Luzon. In fact, it is the most successful strawberry farm in the whole Philippines. Located in Benguet where the climate is cool and the soil fertile, the Strawberry Farm supplies markets and individuals with rich red and succulent strawberries which are fresh and budget friendly.

Strawberries generally grow best in countries with a cool climate, the Philippines is a tropical country which is of course warm but since La Trinidad is a valley on top of mountains thousands of feet high, the heat isn’t much felt, in fact the climate is fresh and perfect. Here is the ideal place for strawberries to grow so if you’re visiting La Trinidad or Baguio, it will be so worthwhile to see the Strawberry Farm and taste nutritious and delicious strawberries.

Despite being a busy town and really heading to urbanization, La Trinidad has protected the Strawberry Farm and agriculture in general. Business establishments and residential buildings have popped everywhere but the lands that grow fruits and vegetables are still preserved and very much valued.

How to reach the La Trinidad Strawberry Farm

When you’re in Baguio and you want fresh and affordable strawberries, why not drive down to the La Trinidad Strawberry Farm and pick up strawberries yourself? That way you can choose the sweetest smelling and most delicious strawberries.

From Baguio, you can either drive down Bokawkan Road or Magsaysay Avenue, they converge and lead to the fly over and from there drive straight down to La Trinidad. You will be able pass by Bell Church (Chinese Temple) which is a nice place to stop by and meditate. Following the highway, you will be able to go by establishments and supermarkets, once you reach Benguet State University, you’ll know you’re nearing the Strawberry Farm. 5 kilometers away from Baguio City, the strawberry farm can be reached in 20 minutes or less depending on traffic. There will be a large sign post over the road side (left side of the road when facing the Benguet capitol, and right side of the road when going back to Baguio City) that says you’ve finally reached the Strawberry Farm.

The Strawberry Farm allows you to pick your choice strawberries

If you wish to pick strawberries yourself, there will be guides and farmers there to assist you. Follow them to areas where the freshest strawberries can be picked. You’ll be given baskets and upon reaching the middle of the plantation, the smell of strawberries will surround you and that’s really great. The price of hand picked strawberries is slightly higher than those sold by farmers in the roadside.
There will be ready to buy strawberries at the roadside and they are of good quality as well. They are cheaper than hand picked strawberries.

I wish to thank my friend Christopher Kew-is for these photos. Thanks Chris.
